The mysterious Mrs. Adelheid Aholt

On 14-9-1918 died in St. Louis, MO Adelaide Aholt. Born in Germany on 30-4-1842, daughter of John Jurgens and Caroline Drews, and widow of an unknown Aholt. Between 1897 and 1913 she was mentioned as one of the midwives in the fast growing city of St. Louis, MO. At first as ‘Adelheid’ (German), but later as ‘Adelaide’.  She removed a lot. We find her in Upton, Penrose, Emerson Avenue and Salisbury. On the picture here from the City Directory for St. Louis, MO in 1898 she lived in that year at 214 West Steins Street.
