Movie Park in Bottrop-Kirchhellen

Dear followers. In Germany there is a moviepark, located in Bottrop-Kirchhellen. The Hollywood and other film-locations are incorporated there with a fun-park for everybody who has a positive link to the US. Watch a Shrek-film there, and you will be thrilled by a chair and sprankeled by rain and wind.

Binnenkort beschikbaar: de inventaris van het familiearchief Van Brakell. In 1905 is op een klein gedeelte van dit archief een toegang vervaardigd. Ruim een eeuw later zijn eindelijk de talrijke charters uit dit archief beschreven. Het gaat daarbij m.n. om het beheer van goederen in de Nederbetuwe (vooral Ravenswaaij en Rijswijk) en in het Land van Maas en Waal (Over- en Nederasselt). De informatie is te vinden in het Gelders Archief te Arnhem.

Links het ingekleurde familiewapen van Johanna van Beringen, dr. van Henrick van Beringen Pietersz en Margaretha van Steelandt Willemsdr, uit de 'Genealogie van de familie Van Schuijlenburch', door Jacob van der Lely van Oudewater, ca. 1820, aanwezig in het Familiearchief Van Brakell. De familie Van Schuijlenburch was als aangetrouwd gerelateerd aan Van Brakell. Deze laatste familie noemde zich vaak Van Brakell tot den Brakell. Een huis met toren en zaal in het Nederbetuwse Rijswijk, en leen van de heren en graven van Culemborg, waarvan helaas geen afbeelding is overgeleverd.

Johann Anton Martin Aholt, the man who left the rural life

Johann Aholt (1872-1941) was as a first-born child the inheritor of the mansion of Aholt in Bocholt, Germany. He broke with this tradition and let him pay-off with a 1000 Mark in 1905, when he had the opportunity to start a beer-trade in the city of Oberhausen. The farm came on his younger brother Heinrich Anton Aholt. Johann opened a 'Trinkhalle' and shows on this picture his miraculous transport-vehicle and the positive attention of several children and his help Alois Schmitz behind him on the engine.

The Aholt-beertrade in Oberhausen still exists. The descendants of Johann made the trade to a succes. Perhaps it was a good choice for Johann to leave the farm in Bocholt. Oberhausen in the Ruhrgebiet was part of the rising German industrial regions.

Gerrit Demmink, debater & lawyer in Michigan

His name is Gerrit Demmink and his roots are in Holland. Like many other Dutch families members of these Demmink-line made their home in the state of Michigan. There we find Gerrit Demmink, of Grandville in the Catalogue of the University of Michigan in the list of the college of literature, science and the arts. The man is at college a perfect debater and in 1923 he got his prize.

According to the Michiganensian of 1923 and years thereafter he was a member of the Delta Sigma Rho players club in the Michigan team, who played against teams from other American states in the middle-west.

Debating helped Gerrit in his law-study. We find him as a junior and later as senior-member of The Lawyers Club in Grand Rapids, and in 1929 he was a member of the memorial committee. Nearly a century later we memorize this man, here on this blog.

De cursus is voorbij, het certificaat behaald en een beetje kennis van de internet-elementen toegevoegd aan de hersen-c-schijf. We gaan nu de naam en lay-out een beetje aanpassen aan de nieuwe omstandigheden en richten ons op het niet-cursus publiek. Wie nu gaat, die gaat, en wie nu komt is welkom. We gaan het eens bekijken wat hier vervolgens te melden valt.

The Moberly Monitor-Index of Jan. 30 1964 tells us about the death of Vincent Aholt. This paper is full of details about the place and family of this name. The quality of the scanned periodical is not very well, but you have to cope with that. This paper is avaliable on the paid version of Ancestry.com. It tells us about birth, accidents, death, remainder in hospitals, travelling to relatives etc.

Henriëtte Constance Demmink, born Utrecht 13 jan. 1890, actress (diploma toneelschool 1910), declamatrice, member of Het Tooneel (1910-1911), the Koninklijke Vereniging Het Nederlandsch Toneel (from 1911), the Rotterdamsch Tooneel (from 1919) and the Nieuwe Nederlandsche Tooneel, † (unmarried) Laren 10 aug. 1984.
She is a member of the Schulten zu Aholte-branche with the familyname Demmink in the Netherlands.
